Politics....WHAT???

Since Obama-Romney's presidential campaign, I am so hungover with "politics".  I am highly impressed by the involvement of the people and the political culture here in the United States . This was all new for me, since i am from South east Asia( Nepal) where the purpose of politics is corruption and quite few of us gives a shit about it anyway.
In all honesty, I try to stay away from any political issues, since the political issues from my country are far from my understanding. Despite of all that, today's news kinda sucked me in. So yeah, whatever, i  woke up with the most LOL news on the Internet., one of the most powerful man in the country was slapped by a commoner. And there was a meeting which concluded that the attack against the chairman was a conspiracy against peace and the constitution. But, Hello!! which constitution are you talking about?  I personally think that was the mounted  frustration that eventually outburst.  I have respect for the people who break or at least try to break the status quo, so, Conspiracy or not, that was commendable.
The politics of nepal has been facing number of significant challenges. Ten years of violent conflict, political instability, active monarch to democratic republic, hindu to secular state, and proportional representation. These sharp and frequent political reshuffling of political leaders has created opportunities of corruption and  impunity has  widespread creating a big loophole in the system. We Nepalese are the victims.  Once proclaimed to be the most peaceful country, the political turmoils have completely raped the country inside out.
Nepal's development has been jeopardized by the inefficiency from the political parties. They have failed to do what is necessary, which is not a surprise when they have been busy in collecting money to their own personal bank accounts.
Sadly , today we think participating in rallies  and burning tires is a contribution to change and that we are fighting the system. Probably its time for us to collect our act and move towards building a better nation.

We all talk the talk but do we walk the walk???

And.....  I am back to my face book :

On a lighter note, here's the rad video, my all time favorite by Nepathya.

My Friend's Birthday

Hello, yes, I am still alive.

Today is November 14th, Subekchha's birthday. She is an ah-ma-zing friend.
(sorry, I stole the picture).

We have been there in each other lives since our high school days. After all these years, she's still the same for me. She moved to Australia, I moved to New York, life changed but one thing that never changed was our friendship. We are in contact through face book and emails, and our bond has solidified as we grow older and wiser. Though we don’t get to hang out as much as I’d love to, she has a special place in my heart and always will. I'll always cherish each and every moments we had together, because seriously, that girl is something special. She is smart, funny, innocent and oh, how can I forget “creative”. So today, I wish her a fantastic birthday with hopes that she will end the day with lots of fun with her loved ones somewhere in Australia while blaring a punk rock hipster kinda dance music that I am not smart enough to understand.

I know she hates make up and that sorta biatch (I read that on her face book) hah!!! but on her birthday, i wish, she acknowledges the fact that she's beautiful, and she doesn't need that. But it would be great, if she starts acting like a lady and at least start using mascara.

In high school, we went through boy dramas, epic heartbreaks, bitching and what not. And looking back on the last few years, I think I understand why she holds a special place in my heart. She was always there for me, and I appreciate it.

Also I know she wants to keep it low profile, but it’s her birthday, and it’s worth celebrating and blogging.

For Subekchha:
· I hope this year; you learn to be wiser and  braver. On that note, please quit your nail biting habit, this year please. Nail paint won't hurt either.
· Things are changing greatly, and we don’t even say hello quite often, no matter what. I love you. Thank you for being true to yourself.
· Even though my definition of adventure is lazy afternoons, eating junk food and blogging while watching family guy, I wanna do all that with you while we are still young (tee-hee!!!).
· I still miss some of the stupid things we used to do in high school. And your epic dance moves.
· I am a big fan of your writing and art you should continue doing it.
· I am always on your side.
 "happy birthday love"
p.s. This blog wouldn't exist without your support and encouragement. Thanks.

MY LOVE AFFAIR WITH JEWELRY

 Statement Necklaces:

One piece of necklace and that's enough to alter the entire look. We can enhance the look by wearing a simple top or a dress and a simple hair-up-do. Fortunately you don't have to break the bank,
funky fun pieces to exquisite haute couture pieces , all types are available widely in the market today.

Body chains:

And of course, The Sexy Body chains!! Pretty much bad ass trend ever. There are different styles of body chains available , which can be worn in hundreds of styles. You can crisscross the necklace around the chest / full torso, or wear it as a double necklace. Just use your own favorite styles or simply wear it by pulling them over your head and slipping the arms. Chain gives that edgy look and instantly adds an extra oomph to any boring outfit.

(1,2,3,4,5,6) Top shop Body Chains.

Ear cuffs:

Ear cuffs can definitely be the trendy statement to your look. Extremely boho-chic, I absolutely love 'em. Ear cuffs that imitate the shape of the ear in more artsy fashion is one of  my fab style. Some ear cuffs can be directly fastened to the ear lobe in a comb-like- attachment while some styles need to be fastened at the back or can be inserted into a bun.

Micro letter stud earring:

Kim Kardashian rocked those gold KW letters on her ear, and honestly I love the way she flaunted it. Micro letter stud earring is definitely a HOT trend.

Detailed Back earring:

I spotted these earrings with detailed and unique back feature. These earrings with beautiful designs at the post closure have become my "must-have" accessories.

Lake George -Queen of American Lakes

My apologies for not being a complete devotee to my blog. I have been too busy enjoying my trip and what not since I‘ve returned to the city. I am too lazy to sit in front of the computer and think what to write. But, I have committed myself to give ya’ll a sneak peek of what I did all this time. I went to Lake George.  I was just about to feel home-sick and this trip totally saved me. "Could there be a better timing?," I asked myself. It was just the perfect time and place to enjoy my summer. I really needed this. The town made me feel like home, my sweet home, Pokhara.  Pokhara  is a beautiful city with stunning views of the Himalayas and several lakes. It is more beautiful than these merry words could describe. Trust me!

Lake George, nicknamed as “queen of American lakes” is located at the southeast base of Adirondack mountains in northern New York.  When I travel it’s all about good food, new concepts and pure fun. First night in lake George…Well, it was raining ( I know-I know, dumbest thing to do was not to check the weather before the trip), but company of good friends, sight of a beautiful lake from our hotel, and poker totally saved my evening.  We ended our night with the yummy Asian-fusion food at Hibachi. The small hotel we stayed in was elegant, overlooking the beautiful lake and seamlessly integrated into the texture of the town.

Next morning, after breakfast we went to see the historic Prospect Mountain. Oh the view! So beautiful! Panoramic view of Lake George and the Adirondack valley was ah-ma- zing.  In a true New-yorker-style, we went bar hoping and partied whole night. Thank god, I didn’t wake up with a hangover. On the third day, my friends enjoyed para sailing. The colorful chutes were hovering all over the bay area, and people were so excited. But I just couldn't get over with my "acrophobia". I cant even look  down from the forth floor in the mall, yeah folks, that BAD! Eventually, I ended up at the shore, clicking few pictures, enjoying the sun and food at the local restaurant.

Fourth and the last day, we rented a 130 hp speed boat. Oh boy! it was one of the wildest ride! It was a combination of a roller coaster with a tinge of danger and fun at the same time. And yeah, the tubing part was really OMG. Thank-god, i didn't pass on this exhilarating ride. I soaked up the sun, got a perfect tan and tried to take in all the adventure and fun a boat ride could offer.

P.S. Restaurants in the village offers good varieties of food.

And that was it, the following evening, we drove our way back to the big apple.

On our way we had to make a stop in  Harlem. Soon after we parked our car , a fight broke out. People were popping bottles and cursing. We had to stay there waiting for the NYPD to come, my friend from Oklahoma was bewildered, I hugged her and all I could say was “Welcome to New York”.

Hair Rainbow

I love to play with my hair. I had this long hair, then I went blond, then I did this idk what color, and now short bob. I mean we just live once, why not experience it all?

I seriously thought this rainbow color trend is here just for a short run, but err...wait, rainbow colored hair have been spotted in the runways and now in the streets as well. From ombres, reverse ombres, full on dyed wig and now rainbows all over.

Did y'all see Prabal Gurung's fall show? The models walked the ramp in pink streaks of hair. And then Lauren Conrad posted the pic of her rainbow dyed hair. I am wondering if I can dare for it. The big question is, Can a regular girl like me pull off this fierce look? Celebs like Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga have done it and seems like ladies are ready to push their limits with bright colors in the real world too. Any thoughts?

If you want to make it work at your work place, you can make a bun and hide it or play it with the braids. Natural hair color and skin color should be considered before experimenting with colors. Darker skin with brunette hair goes well with rich tone colors like emerald green, burgundy and purple whereas fairer skinned blonds go well with pink, light blue or lavender. The best way to experiment with colors is to first try at the tips like Lauren Conrad. Or if you don't wanna go over the top, you can always get the rainbow colored extensions in Sephora. It’s as easy as that.

And if you end up hating it ladies, world hasn't ended here, you can always dye it back. So why not have a little fun????

Montauk day-cation

Summer is officially in full swing. Many of us are looking for ways to beat the heat and have some fun. My friends made a plan to go to the Montauk beach and who doesn't want to go to such a beautiful/historic place with all the rumors of horrors, aliens and the awesomeness? The good news is, the weather was so damn fine, and it was around 3 hours drive from the city w. the traffic.

Oh, the beach!! It was heavenly beautiful with clear water, and nothing disrupts the view of water as far as the eye can see. We played for a while in the water and soaked ourselves in the sun. We packed few homemade foods for our lunch-fun-beach-picnic. A perfect weather, good company and couple of chilled beer, I had one ah-ma-zing day~cation!!!

My friend Chechi flaunting her bikini bod.

A light on the infamous  2008 "Montauk monster" story:
There was this unidentified creature washed ashore. Even though many people swear and sworn they had seen it, it wasn't recovered or fully examined. So fact or fad???

Photo via google

On our way, I also happen to see the Amityville horror house. In 1974, Ronald Defeo Jr,  murdered his father, mother, and four siblings in the house which is believed to be haunted. Lutz family, who moved in shortly after the mass killings, experienced many paranormal activities in the house. Horror or hoax????

Also another legendary story is the Camp Hero. Formerly a US government air force base, there are many urban legends regarding the conspiracy theories. One of the most infamous of which was the kidnapping of the Montauk boys. They were being experimented to see if they could be used to bring the objects from another dimension. It is rumored that the experiment went wrong and a forth dimensional creature was released which was captured underneath the grounds. Now Camp hero is open to public, state park owns the park and above the ground, everything underneath is owned by the US government. Fact or Fiction????

OK, I know I'm creeping y'all.

On the way , is Hampton with its beautiful people living in beautiful houses on beautiful beaches. Hampton looks surreal and a picture perfect town.
No matter what the stories are, the fact is : Montauk is heavenly beautiful with its beautiful beach, a historic light house, upscale restaurants/bars and a perfect getaway.

P.S. Water proof sunscreen, beach cover-up, hat, flip-flop, sunglasses, waterproof mascara, a lip balm and a cute swimwear : few must-haves in your beach bag!!
